A Crazy Adventure that YOU HAVE to do!!!

I'm sure I have mentioned before that Ryan often says that one of the reasons he married me was for my adventurous spirit.  We have gone through the desert on a horse with no name, slept in haunted houses, toured through Europe, gone to France so I can be in a wedding of someone he has never met, climbed ancient Mayan Ruins, parasailed over Lake Tahoe, and those are just a few of our travel adventures!  The adventures I have brought to our family and home have also been numerous!  Bringing in teenage boys from other countries to be part of the family is definitely an adventure!

A few weekends ago as I was driving downtown, Ryan sent me a text that said, "Thank you for being so adventurous.  I love you."  I was on my way to yet another adventure.  I never thought it was something I would do and I told myself that I was doing it for Ry, but I found out that I really was doing it for myself.  It was such a great experience that I wanted to tell you about it and encourage you to do it for yourself as well!

I met a photographer in a hotel downtown and got my picture taken.  Doesn't sound like much of an adventure when you know that I know her from church, but the pictures she was taking weren't your normal put on the wall type of pictures.  She wasn't taking pictures of my family or pictures to put in the church directory.  She was taking pictures to capture me.  I was so nervous, but I have to say I felt at ease almost immediately.  She had me pose and set the scene and began to snap pictures.  After just a few clicks of the shutter she showed me an image of myself.

I have to tell you that I mostly see myself as a mom and a homemaker.  I am also a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, nursery worker, classroom volunteer, neighbor, friend, and a wife.  I don't often see myself as beautiful or even just a woman.  When I looked at the pictures Heather, from Heather Cisler Photography, was taking I was floored.  They did not look like a mom, homemaker, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, nursery worker, classroom volunteer, neighbor, friend, or even a wife!  The image was amazing! I couldn't believe it was me!  The compliments and comments Heather was directing my way made me feel like I was in a modeling session.  She and her assistant were gasping with approval as we moved from one pose to another.  I could tell by the look on their faces that what they were seeing behind the lens was way more then I see in the mirror.  I notice each and every imperfection.  They were pointing out each and every perfection.

I haven't even seen the finished product yet, but the feeling during the session was enough for me to recommend it to others!

This is why you need to do this.  You need to be reminded that even with imperfections (because we all have them) you have more perfections on the outside.  You are beautiful and worthy to feel sexier and more confident.  God wouldn't have made you without making you beautiful!  Everyone needs to be reminded of their beauty!  We need to feel and believe that we are beautiful!  Being a mom means that it is almost always about someone else.  Take an hour and make it about yourself!  Even though your significant other will enjoy the outcome, do it for yourself!!!  That feeling of beauty will carry you through times when you need to remember who you are first and foremost!  First and foremost you are one of the most beautiful creations here on earth!  Know it, Remember it, and Live it!!

  1. I have been an admirer of Heather's photography for awhile now. We haven't met in person but chatted on Facebook and I feel like she is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and it sounds like she made you feel the same too! I think you blogging about your experience is SO wonderful and I hope many women take your advice and see themselves through other people's eyes. I can see by the image above that you are already gorgeous and I can't wait to see the images and how Heather brings out your beauty even more. Congratulations on doing this for yourself!

    1. Heather is beautiful on the inside and out! Thank you for your kind comments! It was a wonderful experience and one that everyone should have! Thank you!
