Grandpa's "Big Bikini"!

When we lived in our old house we enjoyed a huge garden!  We had flowers, raspberries, beans, pumpkins, peppers, tomatoes, tomatoes, and more tomatoes - did I mention tomatoes?  Jackson used to pick the tomatoes and call them "no nos" and eat them whole. 

At this house we don't have a garden, but will hopefully have one next summer.  The little ones did plant seeds this summer however!  Our neighbors were kind enough to let them "help" plant their seeds for a bountiful summer crop!  I held my breath until I saw the shoots come up because I wasn't sure how the "help" turned out!  The little ones rushed to the garden every day looking for those shoots! (after a week of looking every day and not seeing anything they lost interest = thank goodness!!)

Grandma and Grandpa have a wonderful garden as well and the kids picked some vegetables yesterday.  They brought home cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers.  When I came through the door into Grandma and Grandpa's house to take the kids home Tyce told me he had to show me "Grandpa's big bikini!"  I wasn't really sure I wanted to see his "big bikini"!!  This is what he brought me:

Playing Dress up...

It's fun to be a kid and their fun is often contagious, but sometimes you adults need to draw the line and remember that you are adults and it may be wise to put on your big boy pants...

Lola and Tyce love to play dress up!  They like to put on the princess dresses, their brothers' clothes, my shoes, and even adorn themselves with objects like buckets or weeds!  When left to their own devices you just never know what they will get into next! 
I also like to play dress up. (get your mind out of the gutter - that is not where I am heading with this)  My dress up is more of the actual dressing up.  You know, putting on the fancy dress, the nice jewelry, and the high heels to go out on the town for a rare childless meal and evening.  I also enjoy dressing up for Halloween and theme parties.  It is fun to do something different once in awhile.  There is nothing wrong with that!

Making the Cut

I have been mowing lawns since I can remember.  I want to say I stared when I was in fourth grade, but maybe not.  We had a big yard growing up and it took forever to mow that thing!  We had a hill on the side of our house that was a challenge to get up and down.  After I was married we bought my childhood home so I mowed that one yard for well over 2 decades!

I have mowed the lawn while listening to music, carrying a baby on my back, and even while running to try to get it done quickly!  I don't have one of those awesome fancy riding mowers with the cup holders and I don't do the fancy lines this way one week and another way another week.  I section off the yard and try to get it done as fast and as easy as I can.  Sometimes I miss spots, run into things, and obliterate sprinkler heads (which I did last week), but it does eventually get done!
